Pressure Bandage

Specialist bandages with pressure bars allow direct pressure to be applied effectively.
Typically these bandages have plastic pressure bars, are made from elastic, robust material and have ribbed catches to make secure or tie off.

Haemostatic agents

These were developed for military purposes to allow dealing with multiple and seriously bleeding casualties.
They work in conjunction with and do not replace direct pressure and elevation.

Catastrophic Haemorrhage

Casualties may die of blood loss before airway E.g. Traumatic amputation it may be reasonable to deal with bleeding quickly in order to save the casualty, then follow typical primary survey. CABC
